Day of the carillon

Saturday 19th June 2010 will be proclaimed as ‘day of the carillon’. At 14.00 all carillons in Belgium, The Netherlands and Northern France will be playing the same piece so that the same composition will be heard on the entire territory of the Low Countries, the birthplace  of the carillon… Geert D’Hollander, home carillonneur of Antwerp, Ghent, Lier and Herentals, but also one of the best composers of carillon music of this era, has written this composition especially for the 500th anniversary of carillon. The sound of some brass instruments will be added to the bell sounds.
