On 12th of September an important international carillon contest for ‘ancient music’ will be organized.

Such a specialized contest has never taken place before. The instrument that has been chosen is the 18^th century Jullien-carillon of Lier.

Especially  harpsichord transcriptions of ancient Dutch masters (Fiocco, Boutmy, Loeillet, Van Noordt, Vande Kerkhoven, Sweelinck etc.)  will be performed with special emphasis on the style and ingenuity of the performer (very often rhythms are performed in a different way than noted down, decorative technique, inégalité).

The aim is to make it an important 10-year contest.
